Groningen and Drenthe may not be the first provinces you think of to spend your holiday. A shame, because the northeast of the Netherlands has so much to offer!
You put together your own tour and can choose how long you stay at which campsite. For inspiration, we have a few nice trips that you can do during your stay.
You can easily reach the Waddenzee from Recreation Park Westerkwartier or Camping de Breede. Take a day trip to Schiermonnikoog or Ameland, visit the SRRC in Pieterburen or plan a nice cycling tour or (mudflat) walk, there is plenty to see!
If you are in Groningen, a visit to the city Groningen should not be missed. This student city is buzzing with energy. Visit the Groninger Museum, the Martini Tower and the Prinsentuin. In addition to sights, there are of course also many nice terraces, restaurants and you can go shopping in Groningen.
In Drenthe we have five locations available from which you can choose. There is plenty to do in the province. For example, visit the hunebed center in Borger where you can visit the largest hunebed in the Netherlands.
Assen offers you the Drents Museum, among other things. If you are interested in the history of Drenthe then this is definitely worth a visit. In the museum you can find a lot about the prehistory and interesting facts of Drenthe. In Assen you can also visit the TT Circuit Assen. There are regular races, guided tours and on some days you can also drive around the circuit with your own vehicle.
Drenthe also has plenty of cycling and walking opportunities and various nature reserves that are worth visiting. Think of the Drents-Friese Wold, Dwingelderveld, Drentsche Aa and the Hondsrug.
Furthermore, there are all kinds of excursions such as Museum Village Orvelte, Wildlands Zoo, Kamp Westerbork, Castle of Coevorden or a little further drive for example Slagharen, Giethoorn or fortified town Bourtange.
You don't have to go far at all to put together a nice camping tour. Belgium and Luxembourg offer a diverse landscape, cozy cities, plenty of outdoor opportunities and tasty beers!
In Belgium and Luxembourg you can choose from 10 nice campsites. So there is plenty of choice. You put together your own tour and can choose how long you stay at which campsite. For inspiration, we have a few nice trips that you can do during your stay.
For example, start your tour at one of our three locations in the Belgian Kempen. De Kempen is a wooded region with the Bosland nature reserve in the heart of the Kempen. In Bosland you can enjoy cycling and walking. the region is also known for its Burgundian lifestyle and charming villages. For centuries, beer, cheese and bread have been produced in the Kempen abbeys. The Burgundian holiday maker will therefore not be short of anything here! From the Kempen you can also make nice trips to, for example, Antwerp, Turnhout, Leuven, Brussels, Hasselt or Maastricht.
From De Kempen it is approximately a 2.5 hour drive to Luxembourg. There is a lot to see and do in Luxembourg. The landscape is hilly and with various nature reserves, nice villages and beautiful castles, it is a good place for holidays. You should certainly not miss Luxembourg city either. Visit the Casemates, Notre Dame and the pleasant center of this historic city.
After a few days in Luxembourg, it is only about an hour away to the Belgian Ardennes. The Belgian Ardennes is known for its many outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking and canoeing. Visit the Caves of Han or one of the other 15 caves that are open to the public. In addition to the beautiful nature, the area also lends itself to many other nice trips such as visiting the Orval Abbey, the nice towns of Durbuy, Dinant, Stavelot, Spa or Bastogne, the beer brewery of La Chouffe in Houfalize or one of the many other breweries. those from this region are definitely worth a visit.Bovenkant formulier
The Czech Republic sounds further away than you might think. In just under 8 hours from the Dutch border, you can drive to the Capital of this Republic in just under eight hours. On the way back, drive through the regions of Hunsrück and Eifel in Germany and make a fun tour through the Czech Republic and Germany!
In Germany and the Czech Republic you can choose from 5 nice campsites to stay during your road trip. You put together your own tour and can choose how long you stay at which campsite. For inspiration, we have a few nice trips that you can do during your stay.
You can easily visit the city from the Triocamp campsite in Prague. You buy a public transport ticket at the reception and it takes about half an hour to the center of Prague. The capital of the Czech Republic has a lot to offer. Most visitors need several days to see everything. Other excursions are also possible from the city campsite in Prague. The impressive Theresienstadt, the Bohemian Paradise, Karlsteijn Castle and Kutna Hora can all be reached within an hour from Prague.
From Prague it is about a two-hour drive to South Bohemia. From Camping Prima, which is centrally located in this region, you can make various fun day trips. Nice historic towns are for example the Unesco world heritage sites Holosovice, Cesky Krumluv or Telc. Or a little closer to the nice towns of Tyn nad Vlatavou, Pisek and Tabor. It is also nice to spend a day at Lake Lipno or the Bohemian Forest, there are several castles, Hluboka being the most impressive.
After these two locations in the Czech Republic, you can, for example, choose to continue the road trip to Campsite Bockenauer Schweiz in Germany. This campsite is located in the Hunsrück area, 60 km southeast of the city of Mainz. From this campsite it is quite possible to make nice trips. Nice places on the Rein such as Bingen, Rudesheim and Lolerlei are recommended. In the vicinity you can enjoy cycling and walking and there are several nice villages where you can eat well.
It is a 1.5-hour drive from Bockenauer Schweiz to the Eifel. This region is also great for walking and cycling. The Kyll flows over the campsite. You can fly fishing on this tributary of the Moselle. In the Eifel many nice excursions are possible such as the beer brewery of Bitburg, the nice towns of Trier, Cochum and Monschau. From the campsite it is also possible to travel with the Eifel express to Cologne or Trier. From your tent it is about a 15-minute walk to Kyllburg train station.

With this tour you start in Burgundy at Camping Chateau de Satenot. You can drive here in about eight hours from the south of the Netherlands. Driving too far? Then spend 1 or more nights in the Ardennes. Camping Spineuse and Le Roptai are on the route to Burgundy.
Continue your road trip to the southernmost tip of France, the Pyrenees. Our location camping Le Rotja has a very convenient location. From here you can easily explore the Pyrenees, but the Mediterranean can also be reached within an hour.
From the Pyrenees it is nice to drive through the mountains via Toulouse towards Montauban to the next destination. Camping de La Bonnette. In the vicinity of this campsite you will find many nice villages and towns. You can also cycle and walk or visit a cave or castle, for example.
For the next destination you can choose from Ecocamping La Jaurie in the Limousin or Camping La Bucherie in the Dordogne. These campsites are half an hour apart, so it doesn't matter much for exploring the area. The city of Limoges is fun to visit and the impressive Oradour is also well worth a visit!
The last campsite we have on the program is Dun Le Palestel in the Creuse. This area is also ideal for a few days of vacation. The campsite is located in Vallée des peintres which means valley of the painters. Well-known French painters such as Monet followed their painting training here. There are nice flea markets and markets and villages to visit. Also visit the Ruines of Crozant or the medieval town of La Souterraine.
It is almost a 14-hour drive to San Marino. Why not make a stop on the way for a few days? After all, it is vacation. If you like variety then this three week road trip might be something for you.
Drive to Italy and make and stay a few days in Alsace / Loirraine on the way there. Then you are already on the way and it is a 9-hour drive to the oldest republic in the world, San Marino. Stay a few more days in Germany on the way back, then you don't have to make a very long travel day.

From the Netherlands it is about a 5 to 6 hour drive to Les Bouleaux. This campsite is located in Northeast France on the border of the Loirrane and Alsace. This location is great for active people because you can enjoy cycling, walking, fishing, golfing and climbing. From the campsite there are nice villages and towns that you can visit such as Nancy, Metz, Strasbourg, Phalsbourg and Saverne.
From northeast France it is about a 9 hour drive to San Marino. If you leave on time, it is nice to spend an afternoon in Milan and then drive to the campsite in Centro Vavance San Marino. These campsites are beautifully situated and from some places have views over the Adriatic coastline and Rimini. You can do many things from here. The historic center of San Marino is definitely worth a visit and is only a few KM from the campsite. Various seaside resorts, including Rimini, are half an hour's drive from the campsite. There are plenty of nice villages and towns in the area. If you want to drive a little further, you can also visit cities such as Bologna (130 KM) and Florence (150 KM) from here.
If you don't feel like going home yet, then drive on the way back via one of our campsites in Germany. For example camping Walsheim in Saarland. This campsite is located in the Unesco reserve Bliesgau, which is a refuge for many rare animal and plant species and where you can enjoy walking and cycling. Visit Saarbrücken and the Unesco World Heritage Site Ironworks of Völklingen, the rose garden of Zeibrücken or the Schlossberghöhlen in Homburg.
